Jesse Csincsak, the winner of “The Bachelorette” Season 4 will star in an episode of “American Guns” on June 27 at 9 p.m. EST on the Discovery Channel with his wife, Ann Lueders. Jesse and Ann turned to Rich Wyatt‘s Gunsmoke Guns instruction school after suffering several car break-ins.
What motivated you to go on “American Guns” and take lessons from Rich Wyatt?
Jesse: We live in Breckenridge, Colorado, and as the highest ski town in the state, we are a mile higher than Denver, it’s a very popular area. People come here all the time, so the crime rate is also very high. We had break-ins in both our cars, and a gun was stolen from my Jeep. That gun was a gift from my dad. It’s irreplaceable. I was finally able to convince my wife to take gun lessons for safety.
Jesse Csincsak explained that Ann initially resisted the idea of taking lessons and learning how to shoot a gun. However, the recent break-ins and concern about protecting their 2-year-old son Noah helped her change her mind.
You have mentioned that Ann did not want to take lessons or have guns in the home. Can you explain how you convinced her to change her mind?
Jesse: She comes from a conservative family, but I grew up with guns in my house. We argued and argued about taking lessons. I told her if a 250-pound man walks in here, you will be at a physical disadvantage and can only stop him with a pistol. I said snowboarding used to scare you, too, but you are not scared with me. You just need the proper training. We agreed to take a three-day course with Rich Wyatt and appear on “American Guns.” Rich is one of the best teachers available.
What did you hope to accomplish by appearing on “American Guns”?
Jesse: I hope women see this episode and realize guns are not something to be feared. My wife was scared to death of guns, but she learned that safety lessons are important. We have to protect our family. I hope people realize that guns are tools. If you take a class, you will be prepared to handle them.
Everybody says guns are bad, but they need to teach people that guns are tools. If any tool is used improperly, it can be dangerous. It’s like a kitchen knife. In the hands of a child, a knife can be very dangerous. You have to teach people how to use guns properly. Then, they will not be an issue.
You were on Season 4 of “The Bachelorette,” and Ann was on Season 13 of the “The Bachelor.” Now, you will both be seen on an episode of “American Guns.” Do you plan on being on other reality shows?
Jesse: No, it’s tough to cross over to other shows. There is a real stigma once you are on one show. The networks don’t want you on another one.
How has this experience changed you?
Jesse: The Wyatts are like family now. My wife is completely comfortable with using a gun. She is better than me. She was the fastest draw shooter while we were taking lessons. Women are generally better than men at shooting because they learn quicker. I just want people to understand that guns are a tool that can be used to keep you safe and not something to fear.
