When you live in Arizona the first thing you want to do in July is find a cooler place to be. Usually, we go with friends to lake Powell or Lake pleasant to enjoy the water. This year we chose Prescott Arizona. When people use to say Prescott I was never impressed. However these days Prescott has really begun to grow on me. We decided to take some friends and stay at The Misty Mountain Lodge. It’s a sleep 16 cabin that sits just above 7000 ft in the Mountain pines of Prescott Arizona.
The temperature never gets above 80F at this Log cabin due to the high elevation. Which is perfect for summer getaways. Whats unbelievable is it’s only an hour and a half drive north of Phoenix, Arizona. We spent hours on the deck grilling and cooking pizzas in the ooni pizza oven.
There’s so much to do since the cabin is three levels. The top floor has a shuffleboard table in a relaxing sitting area and two large bedrooms, each with 2 queen beds in them as well as a bathroom. It’s a great place to read a book. Make a call, there’s even a chess board in a sitting area up there.
The kid’s area is on the bottom level of the cabin. It’s full of arcade video games and a pool table as well as three bunk beds and two gigantic TVs. We had six kids with us in this cabin, and we almost didn’t know they were with us as they were always in the backyard on the kid’s playhouse & swing set or downstairs watching TV, playing video games, or in the hot tub!
Then the outside of the misty mountain lodge. The property is big. There’s two large decks out back and one up ,front as well as a hot tub for 6-8 people. The backyard has a firepit like nothing I have ever seen. Can easily seat 30 people around a fire ring that’s every bit of 4ft across as entire trees cut like benches to sit on. As well as a large dog pen that we put our furry friends in.
Back deck has fire pit we used since the fire ban stopped us from using the big backyard fire pit. We spent every night out here roasting marshmallows and having drinks before bed.
The lodge is surrounded by tens of thousands of acres of national forest land to hike fish and ATV on, so we brought along our ATVs and spent an entire day just exploring the area. It was fabulous.
If you love to travel and explore like we do, put Prescott on your radar. It’s with the short drive from Phoenix.
