For the next 14 days, AP video journalist Lila Ibrahim and professional snowboarder and “The Bachelorette” winner Jesse Csincsak will co-host “Beyond The Medal” — a new show offering fans of the Olympics a behind-the-scenes look at the games and the host cities of Vancouver and Whistler.
In todays show we take you to play with the whales at the aquarium in Vancouver. Then to wrap up our 10th show, We take you to an Exclusive Interview and chat with Jesses long time friend Olympic Snowboarder Louie Vito…
Louie Vito was born in Columbus, Ohio but grew up in Bellefontaine. He learned how to snowboard at this 300 vertical foot resort called Mad River Mountain which is only about five minutes from his house. He started out skiing and saw snowboarding one day and thought it was cool, so He tried it out and has been snowboarding ever since.
Since Ohio isn’t known for their mountains, His public school had a hard time understanding why he would miss school to travel and snowboard, so his parents decided to let him go to Stratton Mountain School, which is a snowboard school in Vermont. He went there for the winter of 8th grade and all through high school. They let him snowboard in the morning and go to school in the afternoon and travel as long as his grades were alright.
As soon as he graduated he bought a house in Salt Lake City, and he is still living there. It has what some think is the best snow, a city, good resorts, good sledding, easy to drive anywhere and close to an airport. Not to mention some of the best snowboarders, so there’s always a good crew to ride with.
When hes not snowboarding or traveling he is normally just posted up at his house relaxing. Sometimes he gos skating or cleans his house from the winter disaster he makes inside, and just hangs with his homies since they are always in and out all winter also.
If he wasn’t snowboarding right now, I think he would probably be in school trying to get an education, so luckily snowboarding is working out. But he does hope to be snowboarding for a long time, He just needs to stay healthy and keep having fun with it.
